"I had managed to collect many minor sports injuries over a lifetime. My sports included rowing, martial arts, skiing and running. At the age of 50 it felt like every muscle in my back ached, my right shoulder in particular. My knees were also showing the signs of wear and tear.All those "minor" problems had become major. I spent a fortune on physio therapy, MRIs, xrays, and nerve blockers,but with no success. I was becoming even more sedentary and giving up any hope of ever being able to do the sports I loved again. I met Jill about three months ago. Two weeks after working with her on a personalized program of Yoga, Pilates and Feldekrais, I was back up running and cycling.
Most importantly Jill taught me how to view my body as a system, how to put it back to its "factory setting" and how to sustain that level of pain free exercise. Jill was literally my last throw of the dice, and it paid off.
"I used to be an enthusiastic runner but for several years I have been prevented from continuing by cartilage damage in my knees and arthritis in my hips. Taking up yoga with Jill was both an attempt to find an activity to replace running and a therapy to loosen up joints that are not as flexible as I would like. After several months I am visibly more flexible, particularly my knees and hips, and have less pain. I have been a fan of Jill's Pilates classes since my first class 14 years ago! It was so encouraging to feel results, including improved posture, after just two weeks, and these further results after just four weeks. I have an old knee injury which prevents me from undertaking other exercise, but with Pilates, movements can adapt to me, and I can still enjoy a 'full body' workout. I have been going to Jill's yoga classes for many years and have done yoga all around the world, and Jill is the best teacher I have come across!! The classes are always dynamic, varied and never a dull moment. Jill has a way of explaining the postures so that you feel confident. She also drives you to do more and I always learn something new in each
class. I had a baby 18 months ago and then went to Jill's post natal yoga with mums and babies, which was amazing, totally interactive (other classes I tried simply placed the baby in the middle of the room as the mums did yoga). My son had as much fun at the class as me and it was a lovely experience in that first year of bonding. I had damaged my hip surfing and was referred to a physiotherapist.
